Chinese president inspects Lijiang in Yunnan Province
Chinese President Xi Jinping has visited Lijiang, Yunnan Province during his inspection tour in the southwest.
He stopped by a flower industrial park and the Lijiang Old Town.
He learned about efforts at developing specialized agriculture adapted to local conditions, strengthening the protection and utilization of historical and cultural heritage, and consolidating the sense of community for the Chinese Nation.
The president asked villagers about the flower business and wished them a life as beautiful as the blossoms.
Trump, Zelenskyy agree to "partial ceasefire" in Ukraine
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says his country is ready to implement a U.S. plan on stopping attacks on energy infrastructure.
He had a phone conversation with his U.S. counterpart Donald Trump, one day after Trump spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The Russian leader also agreed to a 30-day partial ceasefire.
Zelenskyy said Ukraine also accepts the U.S. proposal on an unconditional ceasefire on the frontline.
He said he believes long-lasting peace could be achieved within the year.
Ukrainian and U.S. officials will meet in Saudi Arabia for further talks towards peace.
Trump said his talks with Zelenskyy were very good.
Russia, Ukraine exchange prisoners
Ukraine and Russia have exchanged 175 captives from each side.
The Russian defense ministry said the Russian soldiers left Ukraine for medical care in Belarus.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also confirmed that the soldiers have returned to their country in what he calls one of the largest prisoner exchanges.
U.S. Fed keeps interest rates unchanged
The U.S. Federal Reserve has left federal funds rate unchanged.
Fed Chair Jerome Powell said they will wait for more clarity on policies from U.S. President Donald Trump before adjusting rates.
He said a good part of the anticipated inflation will come from tariffs.
Policymakers at the U.S. central bank indicated that they still expect to reduce borrowing costs by half a percentage point by the end of this year.

A Chinese official says China is the European Union’s partner in upholding the bloc’s technological sovereignty.
The foreign ministry coordinator for cyber and digital affairs also said China provides opportunities for the EU’s digital development.
Representatives from both sides exchanged views on cyber and digital cooperation at a China-EU Cyber Taskforce meeting in Brussels.
China urged efforts to foster an open, fair, and cooperative business environment to promote digital innovation.
A EU diplomat said the bloc can work with China to address challenges in cyberspace, and maintain a good digital environment.
IOC names Thomas Bach honorary president for life
The International Olympic Committee has named Thomas Bach honorary president for life at its session in Ancient Olympia.
The outgoing IOC president said he is grateful for the opportunity to enjoy and give back to sport during his 12-year tenure after his career as an Olympic fencer.
