China ready to provide emergency assistance to quake-hit Myanmar: Foreign Ministry
China has expressed its readiness to do its best to provide emergency humanitarian assistance to quake-hit regions in Myanmar.
The statement came after a massive earthquake left over 140 people dead and more than 730 others injured in Myanmar.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry said Myanmar is China's friendly neighbor and China is closely following the situation after the earthquake.
The ministry also said it believes the government and people of Myanmar will overcome difficulties and rebuild their home at an early date.
Meanwhile, a Chinese rescue team from Yunnan Province has arrived in Myanmar.
China, Republic of Congo to further promote China-Africa cooperation
China and the Republic of the Congo have vowed to jointly promote the high-quality development of China-Africa cooperation.
The pledge came during a meeting between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and his counterpart from the Republic of the Congo.
Wang said the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation is the most important platform for China and Africa to unite and help each other to achieve common development.
Senior CPC official visits Kazakhstan
A delegation of the Communist Party of China has visited Kazakhstan.
Liu Jianchao, head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, led the delegation.
During the visit, Liu met Kazakh political leaders, including the country's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
Canadian, U.S. leaders talk about tariffs
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has spoken with U.S. President Donald Trump about the relationship between the two countries.
During a phone call, the two leaders agreed to begin negotiations about a new economic and security relationship immediately after Canada's general election scheduled for April 28.
Carney told Trump the Canadian government will implement retaliatory tariffs to protect Canadian workers and its economy following the announcement of additional U.S. trade actions on April 2.
Greenland announces new autonomous government
Greenland has announced the formation of a new autonomous government amid heightened tensions with the United States.
Four political parties representing 23 of the 31 seats in the parliament signed a coalition agreement to form the new government.
Meanwhile, U.S. Vice President JD Vance has arrived in Greenland.
Vance delivered a speech at a U.S. military base and he received a security briefing on the Arctic situation from U.S. military officials.
EU to invest 1.3 billion euros in AI, cybersecurity
The European Commission says it will invest 1.3 billion euros in digital technologies by 2027.
The investment covers areas such as artificial intelligence, cloud and data and cybersecurity.
The funding comes under the European Union's Digital Europe Program, which aims to boost strategic technologies and enhance the continent's tech sovereignty.
