Chinese vice premier calls for solid progress in building Hainan Free Trade Port
Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang is calling on the Hainan Free Trade Port to develop into a gateway that leads China's opening up in the new era.
During an inspection tour in the southern province, Ding visited an airport and harbor to learn about preparations for the independent customs operation of the free trade port.
Hainan is hosting the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference.
This year's gathering reflects efforts in Asia to promote multilateralism, boost development and jointly respond to global challenges.
China open to dialogue with U.S. to address reasonable concerns: Wang Yi
Senior Chinese diplomat Wang Yi says the country is willing to carry out dialogue and consultation with the U.S. side in the spirit of equality and mutual respect to address their reasonable concerns.
He made the remarks during a meeting in Beijing with Evan Greenberg, executive vice chair of the National Committee on U.S.- China Relations.
Wang called on the two sides to strengthen exchanges, enhance understanding, avoid miscalculation and manage differences.
Greenberg said the U.S.-China relationship is the most important bilateral relationship in the world.
He said the two sides should utilize their experience and wisdom to enhance understanding, expand cooperation and live in harmony.
Greenberg called on the two countries to intensify engagement to achieve peace and prosperity for each nation.
China opposes U.S. export restrictions on Chinese companies: FM spokesperson
China has described the U.S. decision to add dozens of Chinese companies to its export restrictions list as an act of hegemony.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun criticized the U.S. for abusing its entity list and other export control tools under the pretext of national security and foreign policy concerns.
He said unilateral sanctions harm the legitimate rights of businesses and disrupts the stability and security of global supply chains.
Guo urged the U.S. to stop overstretching the concept of national security and politicizing and weaponizing economic, trade and technological issues.
He also called on Washington to cease arbitrary use of sanctions lists to suppress Chinese companies.
China-Thailand 2025 joint naval training kicks off
Joint naval training between China and Thailand is underway at a military port in southern China.
"Blue Strike-2025” in Zhanjiang is the sixth training exercise between the two.
It aims to further deepen cooperation, enhance joint operational capabilities, and contribute to regional maritime security.
The exercise runs until April 2nd.
South Korean opposition leader acquitted of election law violation
An appeal court in South Korea has acquitted opposition leader Lee Jae-myung of an election law violation.
The Seoul High Court overturned a lower court's ruling, saying the chief of the Democratic Party made no false statements during the last presidential campaign.
In November, the Seoul Central District Court handed Lee a suspended prison term on charges of dissemination of false information during the 2022 presidential election.
Prosecutors had sought a two-year jail sentence for him.
