Today's Highlight in History:
1884：Harry S. Truman，the 33rd President of the United States(1945-1953), was born on May 8th. He led the nation in the final months of World War II and made the decision to drop atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan. Truman enthusiastically supported the United Nations and put forward the Marshall Plan to aid the recovery of Europe after the war. He sent American troops to support the United Nations in the Korean War.
1995: Famous Chinese singers Teresa Teng died from an asthma attack while on a trip to Thailand at the age of 42 on May 8. In addition to her Mandarin repertoire, she also recorded songs in Cantonese, Japanese and English. In 1983, for the first time in Chinese music history, she released her most-acclaimed album Light Exquisite Feeling containing 12 poems from Tang and Song dynasties with various composers turning them into songs, such as Wishing We Last Forever and How Many Worries.
