Born in Paifang Village, Xiexing Town, Guang'an City on August 22, 1904, Deng Xiaoping spent the following 16 years of his youth here. He attended an old-fashioned private pre-school, at the age of seven, a modern primary school and in due course, a middle school in the county. He leaved this place for France at the age of 16.
