You're here: Historic Milestones > was test-launched in the year of 1997, a year earlier than CRI officially released its first group of foreign language websites. It was also the first online radio in China as well as the first domestic multi-media website.

In 2000, was established as the only online broadcast service of China Radio International.

In the same year, it was reshuffled substantially to give prominence to online broadcasting and to improve the structure of the website for a more international appeal.

In 2001£¬the then Vice Premiere Li Lanqing paid a visit to the staff.

In 2001, Tu Yun became the first website reporter to cover both the National People's Congress and Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.

In July, Sept. and Nov the second major reshuffle of the website was completed in three stages to strengthen audio broadcasting.

In Feb 2003 was the third reshuffle, and the most important one, to further integrate the website, online radio and radio. The new website established different "channels", focusing on topics of interest to viewers. The website's content and structure were professionalized.

Since the Radio and Culture Channel opened in Feb. and Sept., 2003, viewers have proliferated.

In Dec., 2003, our online radio was thoroughly remoulded after the fourth reshuffle. This time the changes focused on online broadcast and especially the News Channel. Different audio resources were reorganized and a brand new online broadcast channel was brought in. Online broadcasting was entrenched as the core of the English website.
