[Chengdu Evening News] | A little more than two months after he published an advertisement looking for a wife in the Chengdu Evening News, Mao finally found a partner, 51-year-old, 1.58-m-tall Zhou Yingzhen. The couple registered for marriage May 21, reported the Chengdu Evening News.
Originally from Jianyang County, Sichuan Province, Mao, who now lives in Baihe, Chengdu, capital of Sichuan P., is something of a celebrity in town, mainly because of his unusual life.
Orphaned when he was a child, Mao lived with relatives until he joined an acrobatic troupe in Hunan P. at the age of six. Eventually he returned to Sichuan and made a living by selling rat poison all over the province.
This is Mao's fifth marriage. Three of his previous marriages ended in divorce, and his fourth wife passed away six years ago, leaving him a lonely bachelor. On March 10 of this year, Mao stunned everyone in town by announcing he was seeking his princess through media advertisement.
"Since my physical conditions do not allow me to have any children, I want to find a married woman who has children and who can take care of me," the newspaper quoted Mao as saying.
Out of the many answers he received from across the country, Mao picked Zhou, who works at a travel agency in Chengdu.
Zhou became a widow ten years ago and has four sons and a daughter. In the beginning, Zhou's children strongly opposed the marriage, thinking Mao too old and short.
But Zhou had her own ideas.
"He is small so I can easily pick him up if he falls down. His clothes are easy to wash. If he falls sick, I can carry him in my arms and rush to the hospital. The point is, as long as he is a nice man, it is enough," Zhou said.
The couple has ordered a celebration banquet to be held in a local restaurant.
