Noon break is a hot new topic among young white-collars in China. Heavier pressure at work and longer hours means less time to de-stress. Making full use of the noon break at the office can help reenergize a tired employee from the morning's work. Here we have listed some ideas for you to get the most out of your noon break.

Hit a cafe
Fang Fang often goes to a cafe near her office. She likes their meals, but that's not the most attractive thing about it. She loves the calm atmosphere of the cafe. During the one-hour break, she'll switch off her mobile phone, browse through the magazines or even just space out and think about nothing. Sometimes, she'll go with her colleagues, enjoy the coffee, gossip and check out the handsome men that pass by.
Tip: A set menu in cafe may cost as much as lunch in a restaurant. But it offers more opportunity to meet as cafes are fashionable places for other white collars to congregate.
Make some music
It's not a holiday, but Dong Dong and his colleagues are singing karaoke at noon! It's not strange. Dong's office is close to a karaoke parlor (known as KTV in China). He loves singing and often sings songs with colleagues on the noon break. They bring snacks, cookies and drinks with them. They return to the office with a big glass of water in hand. Crazy singing is hard on the throat!
Tip: If you don't like resting at noon, singing songs is a good alternative. Some karaoke parlors even provide a buffet!
Shop till you drop
Huang Yong's office just moved to a building near the shopping district. As a shopping fanatic, she hits the stores every noon. Dresses, hats, rings, whatever she likes and can afford, she will buy. Sometimes she gets so involved with shopping on her lunch break that she forgets to eat, and has to rely on a glass of milk and a couple of cookies to get her through the day.
Tip: Working near a shopping district can be exciting, but if you're not careful, you may have a surprising bill at the end of the month.
Catch up on your reading
Ai Ling used to have lunch in the company canteen and then have rest at the office. But she often goes out these days. Where does she go? Downstairs to the bookstore.
Ai found there are many good novels worth reading, but not to keep. So she just uses the noon break to read them at the store. She finishes several books a month.
Tip: Reading books isn't a good idea for those who need a nap at noon.
Spruce up your look
Office worker Kong Min found a new beauty salon that opened near her office. She bought a VIP card. Every noon break, she goes there to take a break and care for her skin.
"You'll have a good rest and make yourself more beautiful at the same time," Kong says proudly.
Tip: It's a good choice for people who work with computers everyday, as computers aren't good for your skin. 1 2
