Top 5 Movie Spots in Beijing
2006-04-12 13:22:44    China Daily
Ah, the classic film date. Practice that yawn, stretch and cuddle move with Beijing's TOP 5 movie spots.

* Sun Dong An Cinema City

Located at the bustling Sun Dong An mall which is at the heart of Wangfujing, this theater is comfortable and shows mainstream international and Chinese films. Its location makes it a great date theater. Do some window shopping and grab a meal at any number of restaurants close by before the movie and discuss the movie afterwards while taking a walk along the well-lit, shop lined streets right outside.

* Maple Drive-In

Relive those high school days of canoodling in a car and steaming up the windows. Maple Drive-In is the first drive-in theatre in China. It covers more than 60,000 square meters and has space for several hundred cars. In warmer weather, you can also rent a space to barbecue. 100/car. Film starts at 6:30pm every evening.

* Cherry Lane Movies

Cherry Lane shows movies that are great sparks for intellectual conversations with a date over coffee post film. They screen documentaries and Chinese films that give insight into Chinese history and culture. All films have English subtitles and they meet every Friday and Saturday. Films always begin at 8pm. Tickets are 50. Complimentary drinks and snacks for the audience will start at 7:30pm.

* UME

This is one of the most luxurious cinemas in town. 60-70 for tickets. 80 for extra luxurious seating. International blockbusters and Chinese new films will always available. Bringing snacks is now allowed.

* Home

With the abundance of DVDs available, why not cook at home, or for those of you kitchen inept, order some food, pop some corn and cuddle up on the sofa.
