| Photo: bokee.com | Over 100 Shanghai schools are now getting students to play traditional Chinese street games like hopscotch, hoop-rolling (滚铁环), shuttlecock kicking(踢毽子) and jumping over the rubber band for an hour a day. And since this is a new experience for this generation of computer-gamers, they've even assigned them "game teachers"! There are already over 100 volunteers willing to teach kids how to play these outdoor games.
This game program was initiated last year by the Shanghai municipal government. An official said they wanted the children to know that there is still fun apart from computer games and TV shows.
And many students have shown great interest in these old games.
