So you want to learn Chinese online. You do Google searches and get lots of results. How do you know which sites are useful?
|
Hello,
I am an advanced student of Chinese and would appreciate help in finding bilingual web resources, like news, information etc., in Chinese and English with audio support. I would also appreciate any information about learning Chinese online.
Eugenio Llorente, from Madrid, Spain.
We love the idea of learning languages online. You don't have to pay tuition, or spend hours commuting between home and a language school. All you need are a computer connected to the Internet and some good websites with useful material.
Lots of results are revealed after doing some Google searches. How do you know which sites have "useful material"? Chinastic lists some websites we consider useful in improving your Mandarin.
Multilevel Chinese on CRI English What's most attractive about Multilevel Chinese is that you can listen. And listening is an important part of learning languages. The site is updated with Daily Chinese, Daily News, together with Chinese idioms, day-to-day dialogues, all with wma audio files.
Learning Chinese Online It's a comprehensive list of web resources for learning Chinese; a great navigation guide for beginners. Information ranges from a general introduction of the Chinese language to explanation on grammar, from dictionaries to tips on studying in China.
Chinese Fables It's for advanced Chinese learners who want to study further the Chinese fables and their origins. Each Chengyu features cartoons and audio explanations.
Online College of Chinese Language You can subscribe to a monthly magazine on learning Chinese. Previous issues can be found on the website. It's great to improve your reading and writing skills. The website also has an online radio that broadcasts Chinese music, though it often seems a bit slow.
Shanghai Daily -- Buzzwords A bilingual (English-Chinese) podcast of Shanghai Daily, which teaches Chinese buzzwords. Shanghai Daily produces the podcast in partnership with Chinesepod, which is another comprehensive website for improving listening and learning.
In addition, just make the most of the Internet! Try searching for Chinese-speaking people on Skype or ICQ, find chat buddies who'd like to speak Chinese with you. Websites like My Language Exchange and Chinese Forums will help you a lot with this!
Also, there are tons of Chinese bloggers out there. If you can reach some of them, we're sure they'd love to talk to you in Chinese.
Do you recommend another website? Share it here!
