 Photographer Mario Testino took the images of Diana wearing various designer dresses just five months before she died in a car crash in Paris in 1997. She had planned to auction the dresses for charity later that year. Some of the photos appeared in Vanity Fair magazine in 1997, but seven of them will be new to most of Diana's fans.
The 70 photos in the exhibit show Diana smiling and relaxed, said Beatrice Behlen, a curator of the Kensington Palace dress collection.
"They remind me of when you want to go to a party and you're trying on different outfits, and someone is taking a few snaps – a few really good snaps," she said. "They don't look like a photo shoot."
The exhibit will include nine of Diana's dresses, including the four she wore in Testino's photographs.
