Out of concern for occupational health and resolve job-related problems, on October 30th, Shanghai job promotion center and other units jointly launched a "workplace happiness index survey" to raise awareness of the concept of "happy work, harmonious life".
|
In recent years, problems such as workers tiring on the job and feeling confused about their work have become more prominent in many cities in China. One large scale survey shows that in China, 25.05% of workers feel they have some psychological health issues to a certain extent. Another job-pressure related survey shows that in the last three years, there has been a trend for workers to feel more and more job related stress. Comparing the data for the year 2003, 2004 and the first 3 months of 2005, work related pressure rose in 2004 by 21.5% compared to 2003 and rose again by 52.3% in 2005. Compared to this statistic, worker overall sense of happiness dropped year after year, with 2004 being 88.6% of the previous year and 2005 72.8% of 2003.
During the period of this "workplace happiness index survey", the sponsors will discuss with workers and related job counselors, placement assistants and worker rights activists the job-confusion issues of work, choosing jobs, communication and preservation of rights as well as "recipes" for resolving such confusions and the secrets to happiness at work. Sponsors will also hold a contest to select the top ten "work doctors". This will build the foundation to "steer" workers towards a happy job and create a harmonious employment atmosphere in society.
