The US military has pioneered the use of unmanned aerial vehicles, or drones, in operations around the globe. Internationally, the drones have evolved from surveillance to offensive strikes with controversial results including civilian deaths. Inside the United States, civilian organizations are beginning to use drones for surveillance.The technology has proven useful for civilian purposes as well.
