It was the early morning when heavy rain was pouring down. At about 1 am, the telephone at the police station suddenly rang.
"We were informed that a man had jumped from the 8th floor of the hospital building."
Braving the rainfall, two policemen arrived at the scene in no time.
"We saw a man lying on the ground. He was dressed in black and was about 1.7 meters tall. We called a forensic doctor from the public security bureau to come immediately. The doctors at the hospital also came. After a brief examination, doctors confirmed that the man was dead."
Through an on-the-spot assessment, the police ruled out the possibility that the man's fall was accidental and held that he may have committed suicide. From the amount of cigarette butts thrown on the ground, it could be assumed that the man experienced a painful mental struggle with himself.
What had happened to make him commit suicide?
