Fishing is a global industry worth Billions. From the smallest independent fisherman to huge multinational corporations it is a massive economic source. But it is more than that, it is a crucial food source.Historically fish were considered by some as an inexhaustible food source. But studies in the 20th century revealed many fish stocks were in danger of collapse.
Today we will look first at the current state of global fishing and fish stocks, then at the efforts to ensure sustainable fishing, and finally at the outlook of fishing in environmental, economic and social impacts.
