Believe it or not the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico has actually boosted America's GDP. Jobs created by the cleanup efforts have been one of the few bright spots in an otherwise dismal market. But no one is arguing that the spill has made Americans happier. Do we need to rethink this focus on GDP as an economic indicator?
