J¨¹rgen E. Schrempp is Chairman of the Board of Management of DaimlerChrysler. Under Mr. Schrempp's leadership, the once highly diversified Daimler-Benz group has refocused on its core business of developing, manufacturing and marketing automobiles and commercial vehicles. At the same time, the company has strengthened its financial underpinnings and implemented a global strategy, symbolized by the successful merger of Daimler-Benz with the Chrysler Corporation to create DaimlerChrysler in 1998. Today, DaimlerChrysler is a truly global enterprise which has a unique position in the world automotive industry.
Together with the French industrialist Jean-Luc Lagardere, Schrempp substantially contributed to the successful founding of the European aerospace company EADS (European Aeronautic Defense and Space Company).
