At the meeting, Chinese finance minister Jin Renqing says China will further cooperate with other Asian countries to enhance regional development. His voice is echoed by the ministers from Japan and South Korea. CRI's Zheng Chenguang has the details.
The finance ministers from China, Japan and South Korea say they have agreed to make continuous efforts to seek the possibility of further enhancing regional financial cooperation.
During the meeting, Chinese Finance Minister Jin Renqing stresses that China will change its growth pattern, adjust its economic structure and expand domestic demand to achieve further economic development.
He also says China will steadily push reforms to make its currency more flexible, but would not take orders from other countries on correcting global imbalances.
"China is willing to make concerted efforts with the global community to resolve the global imbalances based on equal consultations. We will not follow orders from other countries."
In addition, the three ministers of China, Japan and South Korea say the three countries have made considerable progress in regional financial cooperation within the ASEAN plus 3 framework, and that efforts are moving towards a favorable direction.
As one of the biggest shareholders of the Asian Development Bank, Jin Renqing says China supports the development of the Bank.
"With the implementation of China's 11th five year plan, China will further carry out cooperation with the Asian Development Bank in many projects. Especially when we are engaged in the development of western China and we have over 20 million people still living in poverty, China needs further development."
On the sidelines of the meeting, Jin Renqing also met with Indian Finance minister P.Chidambaram. Jin Renqing says the cooperation between the two countries is conducive to regional development.
"China, India, South Korea and Japan are four of the biggest economic powers in Asia, if we can cooperate with each other based on the principles of equality and mutual benefit, I think Asia will be the most promising and prosperous region in the world."
Meanwhile, the three ministers say they have noted the importance of sharing a long-term vision for financial integration in the region. They have agreed to further study the related issues, including the usefulness of regional currency units, through the ASEAN plus 3 finance ministers' process.
On world economic growth, the ministers say there is a need to strengthen the three countries' role in achieving global and regional sustainable growth and financial market stability.
