The remains of China's reputed IT expert Wang Xuan was cremated in Beijing on Sunday.
Senior Chinese leaders, including Hu Jintao, Wen Jiabao, Jia Qinglin and Zeng Qinghong, attended the funeral held at the Babaoshan Revolutionary Cemetery in western Beijing.
Wang Xuan died of illness on Feb. 13, 2006 in Beijing at the age of 70. Wang, dubbed as "modern Bi Sheng", was the inventor of a computerized laser photocomposition system for Chinese character typesetting.
Wang had served as vice chairman of the 10th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), a professor at prestigious Beijing University, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and vice Chairman of the Jiu San (September 3) Society, one of China's eight non-communist parties.
During Wang's illness and after his death, Chinese top leaders Hu Jintao, Jiang Zemin, Wu Bangguo, Wen Jiabao, Jia Qinglin, Zeng Qinghong, Huang Ju, Wu Guanzheng, Li Changchun and Luo Gan have extended their regards and condolences in various ways to his family members.
