The successful mission of Shenzhou-6 also attracts eyeballs worldwide.

In North America, a good number of news agencies kept a close eye on this important event from the very beginning to the end.

The Associated Press reports the mission is an effort by the Chinese government to develop its technologies to match its rapid economic growth. The launch has made China the third country to put human into space on its own following the Russia and United States. With the launch shown live on state television, it signifies China's confidence.

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation says Shenzhou 6's successful landing further fuels national fervor over the mission, as evidence of China's emergence as a rising world power.

In Europe, it' also become a heated topic.

Reuters reports China has run its ambitious space program on a relative shoestring. The cost of developing the whole Shenzhou programme was just a fraction of the budget of its US counterpart. China has already used its increasingly reliable Long March rockets to put over 50 satellites into orbit, including several for foreign international clients.

AFP highlighted that the safe return of China's second manned space mission has written a new chapter in China's drive to become a global space power. The whole nation put great enthusiasm in this launch, and millions of people watched the launching moment live.

German Press Agency reports the astronauts have conducted a series of unprecedented experiments on the spacecraft; paving the way for spacewalks, linking between the earth and space, and establishing a space laboratory.

The Russian media also marked the launch as a milestone in china's manned spacecraft history.

In Asia, South Korean media says the Shenzhou-6 has shown the first-class level of China' space research.

Kyodo news said the launch burnishes China' global standing, and strengthens its national cohesiveness.

Other important media including ABC, CNN, Mainichi Shimbun and Hindustan Times reported on this issue as well.
In addition, French President Jacques Chirac has sent a message of congratulation for the successful return of Shenzhou-6, becoming the first foreign head of state to praise the mission.
