China's Commission of Science,Technology and Industry for National Defense announced on February 25: Lunar Probe Project is formally launched in China

After long term preparation and unassailable argument, the project was ratified by the country. On February 25, the commission held the first meeting of the project leading team, announcing the formal launch of the project.

The meeting outlined its scientific targets, projects targets and development schedule.

The leading team stressed that this project is another key scientific project attracting worldwide attention after the manned space flight in China. It should be carried out with high sense of responsibility, mission and emergency. All departments should take the opportunity and work together to complete it successfully, and should carry out the spirit of ˇ°Two Bombs and One Satellite"and manned space flight, and overcome all difficulties to make positive contribution to peaceful use of space of human being.
