To mark the 60th anniversary of victory in War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, various activities are going to be held in Beijing and across China.
Wang Guoqing, vice Minister of the Information Office under the State Council gave a brief introduction on the upcoming celebrations, at a press conference on Tuesday.
"For as long as fourteen years, with 35 million casualties and enormous national sacrifice, the whole Chinese nation fought bravely against Japanese Aggression. Many commemorative activities are already underway, with preparations basically complete for the September 3 anniversary."
As part of the activities, Chinese President Hu Jintao will meet with veterans home and abroad, who will attend the activities beginning on Friday. The other activities include a evening gala at the Great Hall of People and paying tribute to the Memorial Monument at the Tiananmen Square.
