The region's forests, rivers, lakes, wetlands, grasslands, glaciers and snow mountains, are all well preserved, officials say. Many have been untouched by humans in this remote southwestern region.

It contains 125 registered types of wild animal and 39 wild plants under state-level protection, and the region¡¯s precious geological relics are also being protected.

Lhasa, the capital city of Tibetan Autonomous Region boasted 358 days with excellent or good air quality last year.
