Famous Tibetan Tourist Resort Reopens

Norbulingka Park, a world famous tourist attraction in in Lhasa, capital of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, is reopening to visitors after a major facelift.

It was closed for four months during the renovation which cost some 67 million Yuan or 8 million US dollars.

The name Norbulingka means ¡°treasure garden¡± in the Tibetan language, and the park is famed for its natural beauty and as an example of the unique Tibetan culture.

It boasts many palaces and pavilions, as well as a lake and a zoo.

It was listed as a world cultural heritage by UNESCO in 1994.
