Yu Hongchen, an official from General Administration of Sports of China, was named the deputy chief of the scandal-rocked Chinese Football Association (CFA) on Tuesday morning, Sports.qq.com reported.
The announcement at a plenary CFA meeting followed the promotion last month of Wei Di as the Chinese soccer chief.
More than 20 officials, players and club managers, including Wei¡¯s and Yu¡¯s predecessors, Nan Yong and Yang Yimin, have been arrested or detained over the past two months in a clampdown on gambling and match-fixing.
The CFA has long been slammed for its lack of effort in dealing with problems in the Chinese league.
