Minister of Foreign Affairs (2003 - 2007)

 

Li Zhaoxing, born in Shandong Province in October 1940, graduated from Beijing University in 1964. From 1970 to 1977, he was the Staff Member and Attache of the Chinese Embassy in Kenya. From 1985 to 1990, he served as Deputy Director General and Director General of the Information Department of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Spokesman of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 1993 to 1995, Li Zhaoxing was the Permanent Representative and ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the United Nations. From 1998 to 2001, he served as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the United States. From 2001 to 2003, Li Zhaoxing served as Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs.
