We stepped into the home of one family to have lunch. Do not be surprised; nearly every family in this village offers boarding and meals at reasonable rates. You can have a taste of a real rural meal here. We ordered some dishes with strange names. We felt even more surprised when the dishes were put on the table, most of which were comprised of wild herbs that we had never heard of in the city. It was pure green food, wetting our appetites. For the main course, we tasted fresh rice steamed with red beans grown by the villagers, full of local flavor. In the country fair, you can also buy various fresh mountain fruit and folk artwork made by the locals.
If you are interested in Cuan Di Xia, do have a visit! It is not too far from the city of Beijing, and you can drive there yourself if you like. It's quite easy to find, as it rests just beside the 109 National Highway. If you're not by your own car, you can take bus number 326 to the Pingguoyuan stop or number 336 to Zhanlan Road. There are many direct bus lines to the village. Don't forget to take a camera with you, as the natural scenery is very beautiful. It's an inexpensive and fun city escape, as ¥50 each person is enough for a day trip.
