Transportation
2005-12-08 16:11:16      ctrip.com

Today, Luoyang is the second largest and one of the most industrialized cities in Henan Province. Transportation to and from the city is fairly convenient. Bus and train are the most feasible options to and from most destinations.

By air:
Luoyang Airport is located 13km northwest of the city. Most people find Zhengzhou Airport a little more convenient both in terms of location and flight availability. There are only three flights available from Luoyang (none to or from Beijing and Shanghai). Travelers from Beijing and Shanghai should fly to Zhengzhou and travel to Luoyang by express highway in under 2 hours. There are a few buses between Luoyang Airport and the CAAC building behind the railway station, but they are not frequent, only available at departure and arrival times.

By Train: (Recommended)
Train is the most common way to travel to Luoyang, a major stop on the Shanghai to Lanzhou Railway. Direct trains are available to Shanghai (16 hours), Nanjing (12 hours), Xi'an (10 hours), Chengdu (25 hours), Lanzhou (14 hours), Beijing (12 Hours) and Guangzhou (20 hours). Luoyang Railway Station is located on the northern part of Luoyang city on the corner of Jiefang Lu and Dannan Lu. From the city center, the railway station is about 3km and can be reached in less than 10 minutes by taxi from most destination in Luoyang.

By Bus:
The main bus station is located directly opposite the railway station. The square between the railway station and the bus station has become something of a center for travelers with many buses to tourist attractions and other provincial destinations. The express bus reaches Zhengzhou(RMB20) and Kaifeng(RMB30) in 2 hours and 3 hours respectively. Buses to Zhengzhou depart every 20 minutes. Buses to Shaolin Temple (Songshan) are available every 30 minutes (RMB8). There are also coaches with hard sleepers to Xi'an (10 hours), Wuhan (15 hours), Taiyuan (11 hours) and Yantai (23 hours).
