Xiangguo Temple
Xiangguo Temple, located at the center of Kaifeng City, is a major tourist attraction because of its intact temple buildings and Buddha statues.

Iron Pagoda
Iron Pagoda was built in the Northern Song Dynasty. It is one of the earliest constructions made of glazed bricks and tiles in China.

Dragon Pavilion
The Dragon Pavilion is to the northwest of the city. Two dragons playing with a pearl are carved on a plaque, hence the name, Dragon Pavilion.

Jewish Synagogue
One of the most interesting things about Kaifeng is the Jewish community that have prospered and suffered in the town since ancient times.

Kaifeng served as capital for seven feudalist dynasties in Chinese history. As one of the "six great capitals" of China, together with Beijing, Xi' an, Nanjing, Luoyang, and Hangzhou, it used to be a very prosperous city, especially during the Northern Song Dynasty (A.D. 960-1127). The grandeur and prosperity of Kaifeng is vividly presented in a classical painting, "River Scene at Qingming Festival," by the well-known artist Zhang Zeduan of the Northern Song Dynasty.

Travel Tips

Kaifeng is located at eastern Henan as a central open city along the Euro-Asia Continental Bridge.	Kaifang has good rail link from Shanghai to Lanzhou allowing access to this area from most destinations in China.	The most famous food in Kaifeng is the Guan Tang Bao, the steamed dumplings with broth in it.
Winters in Kaifeng are cold and dry, while summers are hot and wet. Spring and autumn are the best.	Still new to foreigners, Kaifeng offers decent and economical accommodations instead of luxurious lodging facilities.	An ancient city in centeral China, Kaifeng's rich in agricultural specialties and traditional cultural items.
