The largest freshwater lake in Xinjiang and great scenic spot in the huge Takelamagan desert.

57 kilometers northeast of Korla and covering an area of more than 960 square kilometers, Bosten Lake lies as the largest freshwater lake in Xinjiang.  The lake is fringed with large acres of reeds and an ideal place to escape the scorching heat of summer. The lake is also home to a large variety of fish which feed many birds.

The lake is a great scenery spot along the Silk Road for its unique and beautiful lakeside scenery in the Gobi desert. Water sports such as motor boating, water-skiing, diving and fishing are also available. After a day of fishing, tourists can enjoy a bountiful all-fish dinner along the lakeside.

Admission Fee:
30 yuan

How to get there

Take a minibus in front of the post office. 6 minibuses run between the city and Bosten Lake daily.
