[Travel Along Ancient Tea Horse Path] Kangding to Daofu
2005-08-03 14:30:34      CRIENGLISH.com
Ancient trade path passes the home to love songs.

More often than not, a slim wooden cylinder is used for the blending. After the mixture is put in the cylinder, a piston is used to push and pull inside the cylinder. With the passing of the mixture through the slit between the piston and the cylinder, the mixture of butter, salt and tea is forcefully and thoroughly blended.

In Tibet, tea, either sweet tea or Tibetan buttered tea, is served in small or large thermo flasks, in that both are of their best smack when served hot.

Travel Information

Kangding

The county seat of Kangding is 360 kilometers away from Chengdu. Visitors can take long-distance buses to Kangding at the Xinnanmen (New South Gate) Tourist Transportation Center in Chengdu. A bus ticket costs about 120 yuan RMB and the bus journey takes about 8 hours.

The food in Kangding is mostly of the Sichuan cuisine.

Hotels in Kangding can accommodate about 1,500 people. The best hotels are Jiaotong Hotel and Kangding Hotel with prices per person ranging from 50 to 300 yuan ($6 to $36).

Daofu

Take train or fly to Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province. At the station by the Ximen (West Gate), a bus goes directly to Daofu. It takes about 14 hours and the price is about 120 yuan (US$14.50). There are buses from the bus station of Kangding county seat to Daofu. A ride takes 40 yuan RMB and about 4.5 hours. The county is small and you can stroll around it on foot.

The county commission's hotel is rather good. A standard room is from 80 to 120 yuan and you can bargain. It is better to find a room on the second floor for the view of the temple and the residential houses in the distance. Many private hotels can be found in the surrounding county and prices are cheaper.

The average temperature year round is more than 8 degrees centigrade with an average of 2.5 degrees in January and 16 degrees in July. The best time to visit Daofu is in early summer when all the flowers are in bloom.

Visitors should be wary of altitude sickness. And should bring with them some vitamin supplements and some aspirin. (Photo Source: baidu.com)
