2016-03-18 Panel Discussion: The rise of Artificial Intelligence
   2016-03-18 10:32:18    CRIENGLISH.com      Web Editor: Shi Jie

Global Talks:
Today we are talking about:
The issue of artificial intelligence has been a particularly pertinent one in recent weeks, following the triumph of the AlphaGo computer against the Go grandmaster Lee Sedol.

This represented the first time a computer Go program has beaten a 9 dan professional without handicaps, and was heralded by some as a major milestone in artificial intelligence research.

However, despite the optimism generated by AlphaGo's victory, there remains evidence that artificial intelligence is still some way off being able to replicate the intricacy and spatial awareness of human control. This notion was exemplified last month when Google acknowledged that one of its self-driving vehicles was at least partly to blame for a collision with a bus.

So, just how sophisticated is the current state of artificial intelligence?
Should society begin discussing the possible future impact of machines with general purpose intelligence?
And as the technology continues to be refined and developed, what might the legal and moral ramifications of such advances be?

These questions and much more on this edition of Today, where we'll be discussing the rise of artificial intelligence.
