2014-02-27 Extreme Weather around the World
   2014-02-27 13:54:31    CRIENGLISH.com      Web Editor: Wuyou

Panel discussion:
The heaviest snowstorm to hit Japan in decades killed 12 people earlier this month and left more than 1,600 people injured.
Over in the UK, Britain endured its worst floods in 250 years and although the loss of lives was minimal, thousands were left without power and plenty more will not be able to return home for months.
At the same time in the US, it was extreme snowstorms down the east coast, and severe drought out west which got people talking and worrying. Of course, we've just had the worst smog ever here in Beijing blanketing 15 percent of China for a whole week. So, what's going on--why all these extreme weathers? We're constantly being told to expect more extreme weathers as time goes on but what are the reasons for that? Is it to with climate change, our gas emissions or something else?
-Dr. Kevin E. Trenberth, Distinguished Senior Scientist, Climate Analysis Section, The National Centre for Atmospheric Research
-Dr. John Arbaham, Professor of Thermal Sciences, The University of St. Thomas

Global Talks:
Today we are debating protestors in Ukraine appointing a new Prime Minister amid Russian military drills, Thai "red shirts" besieging the nation's anti-graft body, U.N. authorizing sanctions against Yemeni individuals, as well as the man guilty of slaying a UK soldier sentenced to life in prison.
