A report by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences claims that some 24 million Chinese men of marrying age could find themselves without spouses by the year 2020. The report says the gender imbalance among newborns is the most serious demographic problem facing the country. Today asks if we can believe the figures, and if yes, what is driving the imbalance?
