The world is talking about climate change as strange climate patterns are seen everywhere around the world: the winter is getting suddenly colder and the floods are seen everywhere. The Copenhagen meeting and the numerous meetings before have been talking about reducing CO2 into the atmosphere, which scientists believe is the fundamental reason to cause the climate change.
John D. Liu points out besides reduction of greenhouse gases, restoring the degrading eco system is the fundamental solution to reverse the trend. One of his latest documentaries, Hope in a Changing Climate (hopeinachangingclimate.org.cn), reveals success stories from China, Ethiopia and Rwanda, which prove that bringing large areas back from environmental ruin is possible.
Through Voices from Other Lands John D. Liu sent a strong message that Human impact on the climate is not simply from the large amount of emission of carbon dioxide and began long before industrial scale emissions.
As John D. Liu pointed out the human being have been reducing biodiversity, and this has altered fundamental earth processes that we rely on for life. And now we must act as a species to restore ecosystem function wherever it has been disrupted. Mr. Liu¡¯s documentary and research has been proved that the people have the solution; and it works. We know from the history of other civilizations that have collapsed what the consequences are of failing to act - and quickly.
