Hello and welcome to this edition of
Life in China, your weekly feature program on China Radio International. I'm your host Jules Page.
On today's show, we'll first meet an inspirational singer named Liang Fuping. Though he has to walk with crutches, he's never lost his love of life. By singing on the street, he supported his family and found happiness.
After that, we'll meet a group of foreign students, who, thanks to a scholarship from the Chinese government, get the chance to study Chinese in China, so they can teach the language back in their home countries in the future.
For all these stories and more, stay tuned to
Life in China.
Liang Fuping, a Disabled Street Singer's Sweet Life
He is a singer and songwriter widely known in Chongqing. In order to support his family, he went on the street and sang for more than 10 years. This is not an easy job for anyone let alone for him, a man with crutches. However, he always feels content about life and is glad to have new ideas in music. He even managed to launch his first album, so perhaps his gift in music is the key to happiness.
A Program to Help More Foreigners Become Chinese Teachers
It's estimated that, worldwide, more than 40 million people are learning Chinese as a non-native language. Though China has geared up to send out native Chinese teachers to other countries, the gap in demand has yet to be bridged. But a new program is helping meet that demand. Starting this year, China provides scholarships for foreigners who aim to teach Chinese in their home countries.
