With the international climate change conference in Copenhagen fast approaching, much of the world's environmental attention is now focused on what governments around the world are going to do to try to mitigate the effects of global warming. And while governments around the world should be lauded for understanding the need to develop a global climate change strategy, the broad-based numbers being bandied about generally don't mean much for the average person on the street. But while the average person on the street may also not have any impact on the negotiations that will take place leading up to Copenhagen, there are individuals out there who are, in their own way, trying to make their own mark on environmental awareness.
Ni hao, you're listening to
People In the Know, your window into the world around you, online at crienglish.com here on China Radio International. In this edition of the show we'll hear from a pair of individuals who are blazing their own paths toward greater environmental awareness.
First we'll hear from a man whose project is dealing with the so-called plastic vortex floating in the waters of the North Pacific. Doug Woodring is the co-founder and project director of Project Kaisei. For more on this we'll hear from an environmental expert currently working with the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Philip McMaster is also the founder of the environmental group 'Peace Plus One.'
