Seven months after the devastating Sichuan earthquake, nearly a million people from China's south-western province have already found new jobs.
Liu Jiaqiang is a senior official with local labor and social security bureau.
"Through our special employment policies, the local government in Sichuan has spared no effort to restore production in many enterprises in the area by absorbing labour forces from the earthquake region. Many of them have been trained to start their new career in other provinces of the country."
Official statistics show that the 8-magnitude quake in Sichuan forced over 370,000 urban residents to leave their jobs, while the number surpassed one million in rural areas.
Liu Jiaqiang added that the government has pledged to support labor-intensive industries and small and medium-sized enterprises to protect jobs amid the global financial crisis.
