Army vehicles head to downtown Cairo to contain clashes
Egyptian military armored vehicles headed to Ramses Square in downtown Cairo on Friday evening to contain the ongoing clashes between supporters of ousted president Mohamed Morsi and residents of the area.
Reports say the army vehicles moved a few hours after the curfew started and the clashes were still going on.
Ramses Square has been in a mess throughout the day, as a large number of pro-Morsi protesters engaged in clashes with some of the residents as well as with security forces, which led to a lot of damage, including a building set ablaze.
The confrontations across the country left at least 37 killed and around 400 injured on Friday, according to official reports.

Chinese, Egyptian FMs discuss Egypt's situation over phone
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has held telephone talks with his Egyptian counterpart Nabil Fahmy over the violence in Egypt.
Reaffirming China's position on violent conflicts that have occurred in Egypt, Wang Yi said China is closely following the development of the situation in Egypt.
He said It is the top priority that all parties concerned in Egypt proceed from the general interests of the nation and people, and exercise maximum restraint so as to prevent the conflicts from further escalating.
The Chinese foreign minister voiced hope that the Egyptian government will adopt further measures to ensure the security of Chinese institutions and enterprises as well as Chinese nationals.

EU officials to meet next Monday on Egypt's crisis
European Union members are set to hold a meeting Monday to discuss the situation in Egypt.
European leaders are calling for restraint and a return to meaningful dialogue.

China to strengthen cooperation with Africa on health
Chinese President Xi Jinping says his government will continue to promote cooperation with African countries on health and development initiatives.
His comments have been made amid a collection of African delegates gathered in Beijing for a health forum.
Meeting with African representatives, the Chinese President says China will continue to send medical teams to Africa.
Over the past 5-decades, 18-thousand medical experts have been dispatched to Africa and treated some 250 million people.

China, Russia vow to strengthen strategic ties
Russian President Vladimir Putin has met visiting Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi In Socci, with both sides pledging to deepen their strategic ties.
Putin said Russia has the will and confidence to work with China to fully implement bilateral relations development plans, keep close contact at top levels, and deepen pragmatic cooperation, strengthen coordination on international affairs, and safeguard global and regional peace and stability.
The two countries will continue joint efforts and contribute to a successful summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) which is to be held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, so as to safeguard regional security and stability, and promote common development among SCO member states.

Nearly 100 trapped in central China floods
Nearly 100 people in central China's Hunan Province have been trapped due to torrential rain that started hitting the province two days ago.
Local authorities say the trapped are from four villages in Lanshan County in the city of Yongzhou.
Precipitation in the past 36 hours has reached nearly 400 mm in some areas in the county. Water levels on the Shunshui River, which runs near the county, are above safe levels.
Armed police and firefighters have been dispatched to rescue the trapped villagers.

Typhoon Utor kills 2 in Guangxi
The official death toll from Typhoon Utor has risen to 2 in Guangxi.
Downpours and flooding triggered by Typhoon Utor have affected close to 500-thousand.
Economic losses are estimated at over 110-million yuan.
The Super Typhoon made landfall in Guangdong Wednesday, killing 4 in that province and leaving 4 others missing.

China on red alert for forest fires
China has issued the highest alert for forest fires amid the persistent heatwave gripping the country.
Regions under the alert include Zhejiang, Anhui, Jiangxi, Hunan and Hubei and Chongqing.
Temperatures in these regions are forecast to stay above 35 degrees Celsius until next week.
Since July, there have been 55 forest fires in Hunan.

China to further develop elderly care service sector: premier
China says Greater reforms and innovation will be used to build a diversified nationwide elderly care service system by 2020.
Premier Li Keqiang has told an executive meeting of the State Council in Beijing that a sound elderly care service industry will help to create jobs and facilitate economic restructuring.
China has a rapidly aging society and the largest population of elderly people in the world, reaching almost 200 million.

China Kicks off Anti-monopoly Investigations on another Four Sectors
A number of new industries are set to face anti-monopoly investigations here in China.
The National Development and Reform Commission is reportedly set to probe the oil, telecommunication, automobile and banking sectors.
A senior official with the NDRC says these 4 sectors are being specifically targeted because they are closely related to people's livelihood.
The same official also notes centrally-run state-owned enterprises will not recieve any preferential treatment compared to the probes of foreign-funded or private businesses.

China to Promote M&As in Baby Formula Industry
A plan to promote mergers and acquisitions among domestic baby formula producers is reportedly now under consideration by the state council.
Internal sources have revealed the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology is set to create a number of large baby formula conglomorates to compete on the international level.
Under the scheme, 3 to 5 companies will be established with annual sales targets of 5 billion yuan.
