Electoral results show the Socialist Party of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has won twenty out of twenty three governorships in the country.
This is an increase of two for the Socialists and is being criticised by opposition party leader and re-elected governor of Miranda state, Henrique Capriles.
"The ruling party didn't have proposals or anything. The only thing they did was to take advantage of circumstances to ask our people to go out and vote for the health of our president. Today's process had nothing to do with the health of our president."
Turnout for the vote was 53 percent compared to 80 percent in October's presidential election.
