A bus carrying dozens of tourists from Brunei lost control and hit a tree in Malaysia's Sabah state in the east peninsula on Tuesday, killing at least eight.
The bus lost control on the road about 65 km from the Sabah state capital of Kota Kinabalu, then hit a big tree and split into two.
The bus was carrying tourists from Brunei and heading to Kota Kinabalu. Some witnesses said there were over 30 passengers on the bus when the accident happened.
Two people died on the spot, while six people who were seriously wounded died later.
Local police officer Zaharuddin Rasip said initial reports showed that the bus was going downhill when it slammed into a large tree after hitting a van.
The cause of the accident is not yet clear.
