A roadside bomb went off in Kunduz, a northern Afghan town, in Monday evening.

A roadside bomb targeting a police vehicle went off at around 19:15 local time (1445 GMT) in Kunduz, the provincial capital of Kunduz province, some 250 km north of Afghan capital Kabul, a local police source told the Xinhua reporter in Kunduz.

"Three children were injured and the shops nearby were smashed by the explosion," Kunduz provincial police spokesman Sayed Sarwar Husaini told Xinhua, "No police was injured or killed."

After the fall of the Taliban regime, Kunduz was comparatively peaceful without much insurgency, but the security situation deteriorated in the last two years.

So far, the Afghan Taliban, who have launched massive Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attacks against the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) and Afghan national security forces, have not made any comment on the event.
