Pakistan to Talk with India with Open Mind

Pakistani Home Secretary Chaudhary Qamar Zaman arrived in India through the Attari border in Amritsar Sunday ahead of a two-day meeting with his Indian counterpart G.K. Pillai, said highly placed official sources.

Upon arriving, Zaman told the media that "such efforts would enhance peaceful relations" between the two neighboring nations.

"Such efforts between the two sides would enhance peaceful relations and promote people-to-people contact," Zaman told the media at the Wagah border on the Indian side, after entering the country.

He also said that his meeting with Indian Home Secretary was aimed at promoting and strengthening peace between the two countries, whose relations were strained by the 2008 Mumbai attacks.

Indian and Pakistani Home Secretaries will hold a two-day meeting starting Monday in the Indian capital, in the wake of Pakistani Premier Yousuf Raja Gilani's acceptance of an invitation by his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh to a semi-final cricket World Cup match between the two countries.

"Indian Home Secretary G.K. Pillai and his Pakistani counterpart Chaudhary Qamar Zaman will meet in the national capital and discuss several issues, including that of bringing the perpetrators of Mumbai terror attacks to justice," highly placed sources said.

Last month, India and Pakistan agreed to resume "talks on all issues", which were suspended after the 2008 Mumbai attacks.
