Fireworks to be displayed for a celebration for the 1,000th anniversary of the country's capital city of Hanoi suddenly exploded on Wednesday, making several people injured, an official with Vietnamese Ministry of Police said.

The fireworks exploded on a vehicle near the My Dinh Stadium when they were being transported to the stadium for the celebration to be held on Sunday, the official told Xinhua over the phone.

The official said the cause of the explosion is under investigation, but the explosion will not affect the firework display of the celebration.
