The United Nations International Organization for Migration (OIM) has delivered 50,000 U.S. dollars in aid to Guatemala which was hit by Tropical Storm Agatha in June, according to news arriving on Wednesday.
The OIM donated dishes, sheets, mosquito nets, nappies and soaps to 435 families in the towns of Yuma and Maya, where many lost their homes, OIM official Mynor Ardon told local media.
Many residents, who had lost crops including maize, beans, chili and bananas in the storm, were at risk of famine during the next few months when storages run low.
A local official estimated that as much as 70 percent of authorities' facilities had been destroyed by Agatha.
The OIM planed to provide non-food support to more than 2,400 affected families with some 300,000 U.S. dollars.
