Bolivian government Wednesday declared a national emergency for the ongoing drought that has caused huge damage to the agriculture and livestock in many regions.
"The Rural Development and Lands Ministry will apply the agriculture-livestock emergencies," Rural Development Minister Nemesia Achacollo told a press conference in Quemado Palace.
Achacollo also called for government departments to take immediate actions to help alleviate the effects of the drought.
As a result of the drought, about 106,000 heads of livestock cannot be commercialized because they are undernourished for lack of food and water.
The Andean Promotion Corporation (CAF) has pledged a credit of 75 million U.S. dollars to Bolivia to help it deal with the disaster. |
