Visiting Danish Foreign Minister Lene Espersen on Monday here said that her country is to continue to be involved in Afghanistan and help Afghans to achieve peace there.
"Denmark is continuing to be involved in Afghanistan and hopefully to help achieve the peace that Afghans are needed, "she told a press conference after meeting with his Afghan counterpart Zalmai Rasoul.
Espersen said that she had discussed with Rasoul on the upcoming Kabul Conference on Afghanistan and the Peace Jirga.
The Danish foreign minister also asserted that her country would back Afghans decision to bring peace in the country.
Espersen also planned to meet with Afghan President Hamid Karzai during her first visit to Afghanistan.
Denmark, a NATO member, has about 750 troops in Afghanistan, mostly stationed in Helmand province as part of the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF).
A total of 31 Danish soldiers have been killed in Afghanistan so far. |
