At least one person was killed and two injured Friday in a massive avalanche in western Canada's British Columbia, which is the second deadly snow slide in this area in less than a week.
A group of snowmobilers were hit by the mid-afternoon avalanche in backcountry area of southeastern BC's Revelstoke, quite near the place where two snowmobilers were killed and 31 injured in a slide March 13, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) confirmed to media.
The RCMP said they didn't know yet how many people were affected but feared several people were missing. A search-and-rescue operation involving the RCMP, avalanche dogs and helicopters has been launched.
The search was called off later Friday and will resume Saturday morning, according to the RCMP. |
