He weigh only 4.5 kg, but his age is not as slighter as his weight. Khagendra Thapa Magar, who measures only 50 cm, is a 17 years old Nepali boy.

Born on Oct. 4, 1992 in remote village of Baglung district, some 180 km west of Nepali capital Kathmandu, Khagendra is set to register his name in the Guiness Book of World Record as the shortest and the lightest person in the world.

Khagendra who consumes normal food like everyone else in the family was only 600 gram when he was born, father Rup Bahadur Thapa Magar told Xinhua on Saturday.

"He was tiny at his birth, he began to move around only when he was eight years old and his physical growth completely stopped at the age of 11," he added.

A lower middle class family lived by tilling farm in western Nepal is recently striving very hard to register Khagendra's name into the world record. Father Rup Bahadur is upset that one of his sons who could record his name in the Guiness Book of World Record but could not do his personal work himself.

Khagendra can not go to normal school since he is different from other children in school. However, he has been admitted in Saraswati Boarding School of Pokhara, some 200 km west of Kathmandu.

Besides, he needs special care from school teacher because other students tease him to be the smallest. "In this regards, he does not fit to the normal circumstances of the school in remote village," said Rup Bahadur further talking to Xinhua.

"Though teachers scolded some of my friends for making fun of me, still they sometimes tease me in the school," Khagendra expressed plight of studying at normal school.

Khagendra likes watching sports programs in TV channels. He imitates playing cricket game, enjoys watching volley ball and soccer.

Father Rup Bahadur poured his worries for not getting support from the Nepali government though Khagendra was made public since 2005.

The process of registering his name in world record is being carried out by "Khagendra Thapa Magar Foundation" that was established in 2005 on his own name. The chairman of the foundation, Min Bahadur Rana, established the foundation and is driving all the process of registering his name in Guiness Book of World Record.

The foundation aims to provide essential medicine and treatment for the disability of Khagendra and to arrange proper education to him. "Foundation was formed to provide philanthropic support to get Khagendra educationally, financially, mentally and socially rehabilitated," said Min Bahadur Rana talking to Xinhua on Saturday morning.

According to him, since the whole process began for the registration, the foundation had spent a lot for his medical test and the documentation with the fund collected as donation.

Khagendra may have to go to the London office of the Guinness Book of World Records for final examination before registering his name in two different categories, shortest and lightest man in the world. Process of applying for the registration had accelerated after Khagendra's medical test but it has been halted since a few months ago as Khagendra is only 17 years of age.

The foundation had applied for the registration in "shortest man", a couple of years ago, but provisions of the Guinness Book do not allow the registration of under 18 candidate in the world shortest person category.

"London office requires Khagendra to be "man" of age 18 for the registration and he is only 17 at the moment. But Nepal's law considers only below 16 as child and there is provision to give citizenship after person get 16," Min Bahadur said. However, Nepali law prohibits people below 18 from casting their votes in the election.

Min Bahadur and father Rup Bahadur expect government's concern to inform the London office about Nepali law and to acquire the registration over there. "If our government could write London office, then Khagendra could have been recorded as the shortest and the lightest man in the world," said Min Bahadur.
